Title: Narratives of the disease and its dangers: a study with cardiovascular risk patients In sociocultural terms, risk is a center political / cultural concept in Western societies and constitutes an important aspect of subjectivity and human existence, regarded as something amenable to management and human intervention and is associated with the ideas of choice, responsibility and guilt. The discourse about the risk reflect the contemporary insecurity, emphasize the primacy of certainty generated by devices logical empiricists of modern science, unveil the paradoxes and ambivalences of our time and represent the dominant highly preventive culture (Castiel, 2012). Discourses about risk have become a pervasive part of life (Beck, 1992) and understanding of the occurrence of disease in terms of risk is a modern phenomenon. Lifestyle related risks have become the focus of health promoters and health educators. Individuals identified as at risk of a particular disease are encourage to change aspects of their lives, monitoring their behaviour and engaging in a regime of self-care (Kavanagh et Broom, 1998). However, the language of risk has many meanings. In clinic medicine the talk about risk refers a statistical concept, while laymen and social scientists have a boarder understanding of what it concerns and it is inherently difficult to explain the methodological premise for the risk factor concept and the statistical calculations pertaining to a given risk measure in a meaningful way to a patient (Getz et al, 2004). Current guidelines for prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) label hypertensive patients as in CVD risk. The study that I am doing focus the question how this patients, under surveillance in primary health care units understand and ascribe meaning to their clinical classification as "risk patients". Patients and health teams will be listen in open interviews. This research adopts a comprehensive, qualitative sociological approach, combining structural constraints and individual agency towards ...

Abstract – In this article we present the preliminary analysis of the contestatory movements experimented by social work in Spain in the period of 1960-1980, which is inseparable from, internally, the Spanish macro-society movement, and externally, the adoption by Spain of international policy mechanisms developed especially by the United States since the 1950s. In this period, the Latin American reconstruction movement was known among Spanish social workers, but its influence was not generalized, appearing in segments of the profession with politicized and more progressive stances. These segments recognized its importance, but also sought a theoretical and interventionist production of the profession adapted to the Spanish scenario. Keywords: reconceptualization movement; social work in Spain; contestatory movements; exchange agent; critical analysis.

The objective was to verify the antibacterial activity of lemongrass and clove oils against Escherichia coli isolated from poultry feces, Staphylococcus aureus isolated from swine and poultry feces and Salmonella sp. isolated from swine and bovine feces. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated by the disc diffusion test using different concentrations of the oils: 160, 80, 40, 20 and 10 ?l ml -1. The multi-resistance of strains relative to that of conventional antimicrobials was also evaluated by the disk diffusion technique, using Multiple Antibiotic Resistance (MAR) index. The oils were characterized based on the results of chromatographic analyses, of which, analysis of lemongrass has been previously published (AZEVEDO et al., 2016). Lemongrass and clove essential oils presented citral and eugenol as the major compound, respectively. The concentrations of the essential oils had a significant effect on the extent of the growth inhibition halo and the coefficient of determination (r²) was higher than 0.80. Clove essential oil generated the largest zone of inhibition when tested against Escherichia coli and S. aureus from poultry feces and Salmonella sp. from the feces of swine, while lemongrass essential oil presented better results against S. aureus isolated from swine feces and Salmonella sp. from bovine feces. S. aureus and Salmonella sp. were multi-resistant to the antimicrobials tested. It is concluded that the essential oils tested have antimicrobial activity against bacteria isolated from bovine, swine, and poultry feces and that this activity is proportional to the concentration of oils and the microorganisms studied.
; This book aims to serve as a practical guide so that stakeholders interested in cross-border cooperation between Extremadura and Portugal can have the specific tools with which to carry it out. The book analyzes both the current legal framework for cross-border cooperation, with existing instruments, and the different public policy sectors in which exchange practices take place between Extremadura and neighboring Portuguese regions. Likewise, it attempts to clarify the institutional, administrative and political asymmetry existing on both sides of the common border, La Raya, since the differences in competence and internal articulation in these areas constitute, today, one of the main obstacles to deepening a increasingly timely and necessary cross-border cooperation.

Coalho cheese is a typical Northeastern Brazilian food whose production and consumption has expanded considerably to other regions of the country. Despite its cultural and socioeconomic relevance, coalho cheese still has a negative reputation due to problems in its physicochemical and microbiological quality standards, especially when it is produced artisanally. For this reason, many researchers have been looking for alternatives to improve the quality and the notoriety of this product, such as the application of probiotic strains to inhibit pathogens. However, in addition to the research related to the desired probiotic properties and the safety of strains for food application, it is important to know the possible changes in the food matrix caused by this intervention. In this context, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the incorporation of probiotic strains of Enterococcus faecium on the physicochemical and sensory characteristics of coalho cheese. The cheeses were made with pasteurized cow milk and probiotic strains of E. faecium were added during production. Cheeses were also made without adding the strains, and considered as control cheeses. The final products were evaluated for moisture, pH, titratable acidity, total carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, ash, color, organic acid profile, and sensory attributes. In addition, viable lactic acid bacteria were also assessed. Coalho cheeses containing E. faecium showed higher titratable acidity and lower pH. In addition, there was a reduction in the carbohydrate content, which was attributed to lactose degradation. The organic acid profile also varied, as highlighted by the increase in the concentration of lactic acid by a factor of 3.5, and by the absence of citric acid as a possible result of the metabolism of E. faecium in the production of aromatic compounds. There was no variation in the color or sensory acceptance of the cheeses. Therefore, the application of probiotic strains of E. faecium in coalho cheese production changes some physicochemical characteristics while maintaining essential properties, such as the color and sensory acceptability of the final product.
